PAINTINGS: Organic Algorithms

My Organic Algorithms paintings are inspired in part by a combination of surrealist automatism, urban living, and loosely applied algorithms.

Their foundations are constructed of a base layer of white lines on a gray background, forming a dense chaotic grid. Each line completing a journey across the canvas while continuously curving in one direction or another, avoiding the space of the previously made lines as much as possible, unless crossing directly over them.

Then new lines are created utilizing segments of the existing ones by employing color and selecting new pathways by changing directions at occasional intersections of lines from the previous layers.
